Monday 8/23 - Day 242
A day full (10am-7pm) of shopping to pick up Melissa's last minute things for college. Met my Mom for lunch at Hacienda (Melissa's favorite). She gave Melissa a going away care package: stamps, note cards, journal, stickers, and a butterfingers...
We could not have fit one more thing in this van... I was pretty proud of myself - the van was packed when Rick got home and ready for our trip tomorrow morning.
Move-in Day!!!
Look left...look right...OH NO! we have the largest pile!
It all fit and we were glad to have the help of Brandon...
...and Brian!
We have a foot injury - jumping from the bunk to the floor... Made worse by leaving Melissa at college...
Melissa and her roomate, Jacki.
Please pray that Melissa will connect with other Christian friends and find the church home that God has for her.
No picture today... too much emotion and stuff to catch up. My husband called and asked me out to lunch... thank you honey!
Friday 8/27 - Day 246
Waiting for Melissa to call....
Saturday 8/28 - Day 247
... she called and sounds tired but good. She has been meeting lots of people and still likes her roomate. Staying up late and getting up late. Classes start Monday.
Melissa's 19th birthday is on Wednesday... Made cookies to mail to her. Her first birthday away. Sniff....

we got settled @ college with 7 boxes...she worked hard to consolidate. prayers for your transition...i'm finding it very different and i miss her every day while excited to hear any news or new adventures :)
ReplyDeletehave a great week
Jason had so much stuff too. I really love the furniture they have with their own little study area!!
ReplyDeleteThat first birthday is a hard one. I remember mailing Alyssa her favorite cake....I never told anyone how much it cost.....I was crazy for sure!!!!
Aw - a rough week for you. I remember how nervous & excited I was & how distraught my mother was...
ReplyDeleteI know this was a roller coaster week for you! So glad she is settling in and still liking her roomie. (that struck me funny..."she still likes her..")
ReplyDeleteCan you send me her mailing address? I know the girls will want to send things to her!
Have a super week!!
What an exciting and sad time all in one. My oldest is only 10 and I have fears that I won't be able to let him go when it's time! Love the matching comforters in the room...and being away from home for her birthday is probably harder on you than her but what a fun surprise of cookies to help her celebrate..they look yummy!
ReplyDeleteLots of momma's missing their collage bound children over the past few weeks.
ReplyDeleteThat transition is so very hard.
Praying for comfort and peace while you new collage student is off learning how to be a grown up! We work so hard to help them become independent then it is so hard to actually let them do it!
Blessings
