2011 Project 365 - Week 6

Sunday 1/30 - Day 30
Driving back from Grand Rapids after our visit with Melissa.  Paid bills when I got back... WOO HOO!!!!

Monday 1/31 - Day 31
Need to start on taxes sometime soon so we can file our FAFSA for Financial aid that we won't get....

Tuesday 2/1 - Day 32
This arrived this week... My old griddle is 21 years old - a wedding present.  It still works but the drip pan is broken.  I know that it is time to replace something when Rick tells me it is probably time. :)  It is a reversible grill/griddle - thinking some steaks this week might be good...

Wednesday 2/2 - Day 33
The blizzard of 2011 hit last night!  I was at clinical and left at 6pm - the roads were getting bad.  Being that it was so late and thinking that Brian had to be at work by 7:30 (he was called off), I stopped for some fast food.  I didn't get home until about 6:45 after a couple of near white-out conditions.  We went to bed knowing that school was closed, that I wouldn't be going to clinical, and that Rick might not be at work the next day.

In the afternoon (about 4:30pm) the snow plows came through our subdivision and removed not only the 1 1/2 feet of snow in the road but the top of our mailbox.  Luckily the top had just popped off and Rick was able to screw it back on.

Julia was dying to get out in the snow... She met a 4-legged friend on the other side of the fence.  That girl loves all animals!

Thursday 2/3 - Day 34
Second day of school cancelled.  Julia opened an art store.  At first the price was a penny a piece but when I complained that she used to give me free art, she decided that we all should have "cupons" for free art to shop.  I have a very nice black snowflake, a "Mystery piece" of art which was a portrait of me, and a Valentines heart...

Friday 2/4 - Day 35
2 hr school delay.  A neighbor and Julia thought they shouldn't waste all this snow and played outside...  Then Rick took Julia to the Girl Scout tubing event...  They had a blast while I tried to get my reading caught up...

Saturday 2/5 - Day 36
We have a group from a previous church that we still get together with every couple of months.  Tonight we went for a very special Valentines dinner cooked by these guys...

On the menu was appetizers, grilled steak or tilapia, loaded baked potatoes, asparagus, dinner rolls, salad, cheesecake, and chocolate-covered strawberries.  All done by the men... including clean-up!!

This was the salad John made... note the strawberries cut into hearts.

Afterwards we were each surprised with a box of chocolates and a heart-felt expression of our husband's love and appreciation.  Then we played a fun game... Who's is it.  Each of the women brought 3 articles of their husband's or from home.  We put them all in a blanket without the other women knowing what we had brought.  One by one we took an item out of the blanket and each man had to tell us why that article was theirs.  The women voted on who's article they thought it was...  The man with the most votes was deemed the best liar.  It was a hoot!
